FLASH NEWS: Star Player Considers Exit Over Relegation Fears, But Club Demands Massive Fee

Enhlish giants, Manchester United is reportedly setting their sights on Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite as they approach the end of a challenging 2023/24 season, with plans for a significant squad overhaul in the summer.

The team could still conclude the season triumphantly in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, yet their current eighth place in the Premier League threatens to mark their lowest finish ever in the league.

A pivotal early decision for the summer was made when Raphael Varane announced his departure from Manchester United after the club chose not to extend his contract for another year.

Varane’s departure underscores the urgency for Manchester United to reinforce their defense, particularly at center-back, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos group gear up for their inaugural transfer window overseeing the club’s football operations.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been identified as a potential recruit for Manchester United following his standout season with Everton, which earned the 21-year-old an England call-up.

Reports, including one from the Daily Mail, indicate that Manchester United is preparing to table a £55 million offer for the young center-back.

This proposed sum falls short of the £80 million valuation placed on Branthwaite, who joined Everton from Carlisle United for £1 million in 2020.

However, Manchester United is likely banking on Everton’s financial predicaments to negotiate a favorable deal.

Everton’s director Kevin Thelwell acknowledged the necessity of player sales to ensure the club’s financial health, especially in light of the uncertain takeover by 777 Partners.

Manchester United’s summer spending will largely depend on the proceeds from player sales, with the club aiming to recruit a center-back, a defensive midfielder, and a forward to bolster their squad.
