Selhurst could be left reeling as significant European clubs have now shown interest in their key forward, Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Despite Bayern Munich’s interest being swiftly rejected by Steve Parish, Mateta appears willing to stay at Selhurst Park.
Nevertheless, he is hopeful that his team will also stick together at Selhurst Park for the summer.
The rumors have been circulating about the potential exits of several star players, and it appears that Jean-Philippe Mateta might be the next on that list.
Napoli’s Interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta
For Palace, the prospect of Mateta leaving this summer would be a major setback, and now it seems increasingly likely as the Serie A titans set their sights on him.
The South London Press reports that Mateta has caught the attention of the last season’s Scudetto champions as they plan to find a replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is expected to leave.
This interest from Napoli comes on top of the existing interest from Real Betis, Eintracht Frankfurt, and RB Leipzig, who made an offer last summer.
If Palace decides to sell Mateta, it is believed that a reasonable fee of £25.7m might suffice to convince the club to agree to a sale.
However, this figure seems somewhat low given that Mateta is one of the Premier League’s most effective strikers.
Crystal Palace Should Not Undersell Mateta
It would be an ill-advised move for Crystal Palace to let go of their player of the season and a striker who has scored 16 goals this campaign at such a bargain price.
