Despite Postecoglou’s comments, Romano has dismissed any suggestion that the Australian coach could be considering walking away from Tottenham. According to Romano’s remarks to CaughtOffside, “The relationship between Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham is very good despite what he’s been saying in recent press conferences. He just wants some changes in the squad this summer, and it will happen, but he’s not in a difficult relationship with the club… he just wants to build a winning mentality. Nothing negative at all.”
Postecoglou himself was quick to insist that he was content with his role as Tottenham manager during Friday’s pre-Sheffield United press conference. Spurs will conclude their Premier League campaign later today, aiming to secure fifth place and Europa League football with their trip to Bramall Lane.
Postecoglou will undoubtedly seek significant changes to his first-team squad this summer, having already laid the foundations with the arrivals of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, and Brennan Johnson. It is hoped that the club’s owners will recognize the necessity of heavily backing Postecoglou in the transfer market if Tottenham are to break into the top four and genuinely challenge for silverware.
