“It’s not going to be easy [for Manchester United] to sign the player, who is highly appreciated at Arsenal and Newcastle.”
Last year, Chelsea were linked with a move for the player, whom Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher labeled a “superstar” this month.
The Blues appeared to be close to securing his services after triggering a £35 million release clause in his previous contract with Crystal Palace.
However, the deal swiftly fell through, and it was confirmed that the player had instead signed a new contract with Palace, keeping him at the club until 2027.
Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United Faces Fierce Competition for Olise’s Signature
According to Romano, Premier League giants like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle United are also interested in acquiring the services of Michael Olise.
The Italian transfer expert claims that Olise has received ‘100 percent’ internal approval at Manchester United, and discussions regarding him as a potential target have been ongoing since November.
However, United are not the sole club tracking Olise’s progress, and they will encounter stiff competition from other suitors if they decide to make a concrete move for the Crystal Palace talent.
While speaking to The United Stand, the journalist stated:
“A move for Olise is possible, but the real challenge lies in the intense competition. There is an attractive release clause in his contract, which has piqued the interest of numerous clubs besides Manchester United. United are among the interested parties; they have internally approved the possibility of pursuing Olise, even before the INEOS takeover.
“As early as October, discussions regarding a potential move for Olise were initiated within the club. During a meeting in November, his name was mentioned as one of the potential summer transfer targets. The player has received 100 percent internal approval, and this endorsement extends to the new INEOS personnel who have joined the club.
“Olise is undoubtedly on United’s list of targets, but negotiations or direct contacts are yet to progress significantly. Moreover, United will face stiff competition from several clubs, including Chelsea, who attempted to sign him a year ago. Olise is highly appreciated at Arsenal and Newcastle as well. Securing his signature won’t be an easy task for United.”
