“Postecoglou’s Forgotten Man Told He Blew His Big Chance by Snubbing Other Big European Giants

A Tottenham player who has seen minimal action since signing under Ange Postecoglou has been advised he made the wrong choice, with one analyst suggesting a different team he should have joined.

Tottenham’s season faltered towards the end, with five losses in their last seven league games, allowing Aston Villa to clinch fourth place and the final Champions League spot.

Despite this, it was a generally positive season, and few expected Tottenham to finish fifth after selling their star player, Harry Kane.

Postecoglou’s signings had mixed results, with Brennan Johnson struggling and Alejo Veliz failing to make an impact.

However, Guglielmo Vicario showed potential despite issues with set pieces, and Micky van de Ven was outstanding at center-back.

Another center-back signed by Postecoglou was Radu Dragusin from Romania.

Tottenham outbid Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Newcastle to secure Dragusin from Genoa for £26.7m, making him the most expensive Romanian player in history.

Despite the significant investment and defensive issues, Dragusin only made four league starts.

It’s too early for Spurs fans to worry, and there’s no indication that Postecoglou and technical director Johan Lange regret the decision.

Yet, former Romania striker Ionel Ganea believes Dragusin should have chosen Bayern over Spurs.

Interestingly, Bayern signed Eric Dier from Tottenham in the winter window. Despite being overlooked by Postecoglou initially, Dier exceeded expectations and became a regular starter for Bayern.

“My opinion is that he chose the wrong team,” Ganea said of Dragusin’s decision. “Bayern Munich was much more suitable for him.”

Ganea, who scored 19 goals in 45 appearances for Romania, also discussed the concerns in Romania regarding Dragusin ahead of Euro 2024.

Romania is in Group E with Belgium, Ukraine, and Slovakia. Belgium is expected to top the group, but second place is competitive, and some high-ranking third-placed teams will also advance.

Dragusin is set to start for Romania, but his limited playtime at Tottenham means he might not be fully prepared for the tournament.

Of course, Postecoglou’s main focus is on Spurs and achieving success with the club.
