Leeds United have received encouraging news in their quest to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon this summer transfer window.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Rodon is hesitant about starting over with a new club amid uncertainty surrounding his future.

The Welsh international spent last season on loan at Elland Road, where he became an integral part of Daniel Farke’s squad.

Rodon made 43 appearances in the Championship as Leeds fell just short of promotion back to the Premier League.

Rodon’s Tottenham contract had been set to expire this summer, but Spurs recently triggered a one-year extension option.

However, Leeds’ failure to secure a top-flight return has complicated their efforts to sign him permanently.

Newly-promoted Southampton have also shown interest in Rodon after defeating Leeds 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley.

Staying in the Championship means Leeds face a tougher negotiation with Tottenham over a transfer fee.

But Rodon’s reluctance to restart at another new club boosts Leeds’ chances of striking a deal.
