Recently, it was reported that Tottenham had an interest in Stuttgart and Japan defender Hiroki Ito.
According to The Sun, Spurs were eyeing the 25-year-old, with Postecoglou familiar with his talents from his time in the J-League with Yokohama F Marinos.
However, BILD has reported that Bayern Munich is closing in on a deal for Ito after triggering his €30 million (£25 million) release clause.
An agreement on the player side is also close to being finalized, making it unlikely that Tottenham will secure him now.

Ito would have been a strong addition to Tottenham, with a profile similar to Ben Davies as a left-footed center-back who can also play left-back.
Additionally, the versatile Ito, praised as ‘fantastic’ and compared to Matthijs de Ligt by the Bundesliga website, can play in defensive midfield.
However, it appears Bayern have won the race, so Postecoglou and his team will need to look for alternatives.
