Son, now 31, is set to become a free agent next summer. However, the extension would secure his services until 2026, allowing Tottenham to develop a long-term strategy for the forward.
This move would give Spurs the flexibility to either sell Son for a substantial sum next summer, mirroring their approach with Harry Kane, or persuade him to commit to a longer-term agreement.
The main challenge for Tottenham will be convincing the South Korean star that they can fulfill his ambitions of winning club-level trophies.
Son’s attacking prowess is crucial to Tottenham’s gameplay, and his departure would significantly impact Ange Postecoglou’s team dynamics and goal-scoring capabilities.
In the previous season, Son demonstrated his value by netting 17 goals and providing 10 assists in 35 Premier League matches.
Since joining Spurs in 2015, Son has been a model of consistency, amassing 162 goals across 408 appearances in all competitions.
