AliousThe Athletic reports that Everton have secured the signature of young striker Braiden Graham from Linfield, a move that has energized the club.
On July 12, the outlet revealed that the Toffees are thrilled about acquiring the 16-year-old, who was scouted as a “farewell present” by the outgoing head of academy recruitment, Joel Waldron, and his team.
Graham, who honed his skills in Northern Ireland, made history as Linfield’s youngest-ever first-team player, debuting at just 15 years and 137 days old.
The forward netted his first senior goal in Belfast last December and has already represented Northern Ireland at the Under-19 level.
David Healy, Northern Ireland’s all-time top scorer and Graham’s former manager at Linfield, offered high praise for the youngster: “He possesses all the necessary attributes, but we must remain grounded — he faces a long and challenging journey ahead.
He’s courageous, has a keen sense of positioning, and is a lethal finisher.”
Patrick Boyland characterizes Graham as a “prolific, small-statured forward with intelligent movement.”
The young talent will join Everton’s academy at Finch Farm, where he’ll initially play with the Under-18s and potentially the Under-21 side.
Graham can’t sign a professional contract until he turns 17 in November.
Graham is part of a group of 12 first-year scholars joining the academy squad on Merseyside.
Given Sean Dyche’s track record of integrating youth into the first team, this presents an exciting opportunity for Graham and his fellow young prospects.
