Sporting CP is reportedly willing to part ways with their right winger Marcus Edwards this summer, with Crystal Palace emerging as the most interested party.
Despite previous links to Tottenham Hotspur, the North London club’s interest appears to have cooled, with new manager Ange Postecoglou seemingly uninterested in bringing the 25-year-old back to Spurs.
Tottenham retains a 35% sell-on clause for Edwards, a remnant from his initial transfer to Vitória de Guimarães, which was carried over to his Sporting contract.
This clause persisted, albeit at a reduced rate, even after negotiations involving Pedro Porro’s transfer.
According to Record, Crystal Palace has tabled a €15 million offer for Edwards, falling short of Sporting’s valuation. The Portuguese club is reportedly seeking between €25-50 million for the player, a figure that many consider ambitious.
While Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has also expressed interest, Edwards is reportedly not keen on the move.
The current situation suggests that Crystal Palace might need to increase their bid to secure Edwards’ services.
With Tottenham seemingly out of the race and the player himself uninterested in a move to Saudi Arabia, Palace could potentially negotiate a deal closer to Sporting’s valuation.
