AliousKeith Wyness, Everton’s former CEO, suggests that potential new owner Dan Friedkin might step in to prevent defender Jarrad Branthwaite from leaving the club.
Wyness, who now advises top clubs, believes Friedkin would have assessed the team’s talent during his due diligence.
Manchester United has already made two bids for Branthwaite, with the second offer reportedly around £50 million being rejected.
Manchester City has also shown interest in the centre-back.
Friedkin, who recently entered an exclusivity agreement to purchase Everton from Farhad Moshiri, may see keeping Branthwaite and James Tarkowski together as crucial for the team’s Premier League survival.
Wyness argues that while Branthwaite is young and could still command a high transfer fee in the future, retaining him is vital for Everton’s current lineup.
He also notes that with Jordan Pickford’s strong performance in the Euros, Everton’s defensive prospects look promising.
The former CEO emphasizes the importance of maintaining Everton’s Premier League status for Friedkin, suggesting that preserving the current defensive partnership could be a key factor in achieving this goal.
