The 20-year-old player will remain with Crystal Palace, which is a significant advantage for Oliver Glasner’s team.

While Bayern Munich showed interest in Wharton, they successfully acquired Michael Olise from Palace for £60 million.

Wharton, who began his career in Blackburn’s youth system, made his first-team debut in August 2022 and played 28 times that season.

He continued as a regular starter, appearing 29 times for Blackburn in the first half of the following season before securing an £18 million transfer to Crystal Palace.

Despite expectations of a gradual adjustment to Premier League football, Wharton adapted quickly.

He started 15 of Palace’s final 16 league games, becoming a crucial player under Glasner’s management.

His rapid progress led to a call-up for England’s Euro 2024 squad and his international debut in a friendly against Bosnia in June.

His impressive performances have attracted interest from top clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.

However, Wharton will stay at Crystal Palace, aiming to further establish himself as a Premier League star.
