According to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, the club is now targeting Kalvin Phillips as Amadou Onana nears a transfer to Aston Villa.

Wyness, who led Everton from 2004 to 2009 and now advises top clubs, suggested on a recent podcast that Phillips would bring valuable experience to Everton’s midfield.

Reports indicate that Onana has agreed to personal terms with Aston Villa for a £50 million move.

The 22-year-old midfielder had attracted interest from several top clubs before apparently settling on a move to Villa Park.

In response to Onana’s potential departure, Everton has expressed interest in acquiring Phillips from Manchester City.

The 28-year-old England international had a disappointing loan spell at West Ham last season, and Manchester City is now looking to sell him.
