AliousLeeds United continues to seek new talent to bolster their squad, with a ‘key target’ now emerging.
The club has already added Alex Cairns, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, and Joe Rothwell this summer, while several players have departed.
Despite these changes, the squad appears balanced, but manager Daniel Farke is keen on further additions.
One area lacking depth is attacking midfield.
Brenden Aaronson has returned from loan but has been playing on the left flank rather than in his natural number 10 position.
Georginio Rutter is the first choice for the number 10 role, though he’s not a natural in that position either.
According to TeamTalk, Farke is interested in reuniting with Gabriel Sara from his former club Norwich.
Sara, valued at £17 million, had an impressive season in the Championship, contributing to 25 goals in 48 games from midfield.
The addition of Sara could be crucial for Leeds’ promotion hopes.
While Farke initially suggested promotion might not come in his first season, expectations have risen due to the team’s play-off final appearance last term and the relative weakness of the relegated teams.
Leeds have also been linked with several German-based players due to Farke’s influence.
They’re in the market for a midfielder capable of playing alongside Ethan Ampadu or Ilia Gruev, especially after losing Glen Kamara to Rennes and Archie Gray to Tottenham.
The club has reportedly made an offer for Koln’s Dejan Ljubicic, which was rejected, but they’re expected to make another attempt.
Meanwhile, another unspecified target has seen his price drop to just £2 million, potentially presenting an attractive opportunity for Leeds.
