JUST IN: CRYSTAL PALACE’S HIDDEN JACKPOT! Jake O’Brien’s Everton Transfer Reveals Secret Sell-On Clause Worth Millions”

Crystal Palace is set to receive an unexpected financial boost following Jake O’Brien’s return to the Premier League with Everton.

According to the South London Press, via London News Online, Palace is entitled to 15% of the profit from O’Brien’s transfer.

O’Brien left Palace in 2023 after loan spells at Swindon Town and RWD Molenbeek.

He was sold to Lyon, owned by Palace co-owner John Textor, for approximately £1m.

During his time in France, O’Brien became the first Irishman since Tony Cascarino in 2000 to play in Ligue 1, making 32 appearances across all competitions and contributing five goals and two assists.

A year later, O’Brien has returned to the Premier League, signing a four-year contract with Everton in a deal reportedly worth £16.4 million.

This transfer represents a significant profit for Lyon, of which Palace will receive a share.

O’Brien becomes Everton’s fifth summer signing, joining midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom, and Jack Harrison, who returns on loan from Leeds.

This unexpected windfall for Crystal Palace comes as a result of their foresight in including a sell-on clause in O’Brien’s original transfer to Lyon.
