Everton Takeover Drama ‘More Stories Unfolding’: “Friedkin Group Plotting Future Move After £200 Million Stadium Grab, Says Former CEO”

According to Keith Wyness, Everton’s former CEO, the Friedkin Group might hinder new takeover attempts for the club, potentially with the intention of revisiting their own deal in the future. Wyness, who now consults for top-tier clubs, stated on a recent podcast that the Friedkin Group has gained control over the stadium and influence over future takeovers due to their £200 million investment.

Although Everton announced in July that the Friedkin Group wouldn’t proceed with purchasing the club after an exclusivity period, Wyness suggests the deal isn’t entirely off the table.

The initial breakdown was reportedly due to complications involving a large debt owed to 777 Partners, who are currently engaged in legal proceedings in the United States.

Wyness speculates that once the legal issues with 777 Partners are resolved, the Friedkin Group might renew their interest.

He mentioned that while there are other interested parties, none have reached exclusivity in negotiations yet.

Despite Everton’s current challenges, Wyness believes potential buyers still see value in the club and consider it a worthwhile investment.
