“Crystal Palace in Panic Mode: Desperate to Lock Down Odsonne Edouard Before It’s Too Late!”

Crystal Palace is reportedly planning to initiate contract renewal discussions with Odsonne Edouard early in the 2024-25 season.

The 26-year-old striker’s current agreement is set to expire in less than a year.

The club is eager to avoid losing Edouard on a free transfer in the summer of 2025 and aims to secure his future before the holiday season to maintain his market value.

Sources indicate that negotiations are likely to begin shortly after the summer transfer window closes on August 31.

If no new deal is reached, Edouard would be free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs starting in January 2025.

Crystal Palace’s desire to retain Edouard stems partly from their limited attacking options, especially following Michael Olise’s departure and ongoing speculation about Eberechi Eze’s future.

While Jean-Philippe Mateta is expected to be the first-choice striker, Edouard remains an important asset.

In the 2023-24 season, Edouard scored eight goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, starting in 19 of those matches.

Since joining Palace from Celtic in 2021, he has netted 21 goals in 101 games for the club.
