AliousSon Heung-min’s agency has refuted claims that the Tottenham Hotspur star spent a large sum at a Seoul nightclub with Bayern Munich players, including Kim Min-jae.
The agency, Son & Football Limited Co., stated that nightclub employees spread false information to promote their business and denied Son’s presence at the club or any associated spending.
The rumor surfaced online following a friendly match between Tottenham and Bayern in Seoul.
It alleged that Son and others visited a Gangnam nightclub after the game, spending around 30 million won ($22,000).
The agency emphasized that the rumor damaged Son’s reputation as a public figure known for his moderate lifestyle.
They announced plans to file criminal charges against the club for defamation and warned of legal action against anyone spreading false rumors or making malicious comments about Son.
Son, 32, has just completed his ninth season with Tottenham in the English Premier League.
He is widely regarded as one of the best Asian soccer players in history and serves as captain of the South Korean national team.
