Turkish media reports suggest that Crystal Palace and Leeds United made attempts to sign Gabriel Sara from Norwich City this summer.
The Brazilian midfielder recently completed a transfer to Galatasaray for approximately £15 million, following extended speculation about his future.
According to Haber Sarikirmizi, both Crystal Palace and Leeds United were interested in Sara, but the player was only attracted to Galatasaray.
The Turkish club’s guaranteed participation in the Champions League group stages was a significant factor in Sara’s decision to move to Istanbul.
The report claims that the two English clubs made offers for the 25-year-old, which were turned down.
Previous Turkish media reports had indicated Leeds United’s interest in Sara and their plans to bid for him.
Sara has now joined his new Galatasaray teammates and is participating in pre-season training.
During his time at Norwich City last season, Sara made 50 appearances and scored 14 goals.
He has signed a contract with Galatasaray that runs until June 2029.
