AliousCrystal Palace are monitoring Red Star Belgrade and Burkina Faso star Nasser Djiga as concerns grow that Marc Guehi might leave Selhurst Park this summer due to strong interest from Newcastle United.
Oliver Glasner, who took over in February 2024, led the Eagles to a top 10 finish, just 11 points behind Manchester United.
Losing Michael Olise would be a significant setback to Glasner’s ambitions for another top-half finish next season, but he seems to have a backup plan in place if Guehi departs before the transfer window closes.
Reports suggest Palace have made a bid for Red Star Belgrade’s No. 24, Djiga, valued at £4.3 million (€5m).
The 21-year-old center-back’s representatives confirmed that Palace and French club RC Lens have shown interest.
A decision on his future is expected soon.
Djiga, a six-cap Burkina Faso international, is focused on Red Star’s Champions League play-off but is aware of the interest in him.
Despite being relatively unknown in the Premier League, he has experience in the Champions League with six appearances.
Arsenal previously tracked Djiga with a £17 million offer.
Djiga is seen as a direct replacement for Guehi, who attracted attention after his Euro 2024 campaign with England.
Newcastle United is seriously interested in signing him this summer.
If Palace seeks a more experienced option, VfL Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix is also under consideration.
Lacroix, 24, who Glasner signed for Wolfsburg in 2020, has just 12 months left on his contract, making him potentially available for £17 million (€20m).
This fee would be a fraction of what Palace might earn from Guehi’s sale.
