AliousSteve Parish, co-owner of Crystal Palace, has cautioned Newcastle that acquiring defender Marc Guehi will require a substantial financial commitment, equivalent to what one might pay for a superstar player.
Parish also noted that no offer has yet met their valuation for the center back.
Guehi, a 24-year-old England international, is reportedly Eddie Howe’s top choice for strengthening Newcastle’s central defense before the upcoming season.
According to Mail Sport, Newcastle has submitted a third bid for Guehi, amounting to £55 million, with the potential to reach £60 million if certain performance-based conditions are met.
Earlier, this publication reported that Newcastle’s second offer, estimated at £48 million plus bonuses, was turned down by Crystal Palace.
Negotiations between Parish and Newcastle’s sporting director, Paul Mitchell, are ongoing.
While Crystal Palace’s leadership is considering Newcastle’s latest proposal, it’s believed to fall short of their minimum asking price for Guehi, which is approximately £65 million.
