AliousLeicester City has reportedly reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for the transfer of Jordan Ayew in a deal worth up to £8 million.
This comes after Leicester’s initial offer of around £4 million was rejected last week.
The deal is structured as £5 million upfront with an additional £3 million in potential add-ons.
Leicester manager Steve Cooper has been keen to strengthen his attacking options following a series of injuries to the squad.
Ayew, a 32-year-old Ghanaian international, has made 212 appearances for Crystal Palace, scoring 23 goals and providing 22 assists across all competitions.
Cooper expressed cautious optimism about the transfer, noting that while they’re close to finalizing deals, previous attempts to add attacking players had fallen through.
He emphasized the desire to strengthen various areas of the team, particularly in attack and midfield, though he acknowledged that not all reinforcements might arrive in this transfer window.
The manager stressed the importance of getting deals completed but also expressed confidence in the current squad if new signings don’t materialize.
In Crystal Palace’s recent 2-1 loss to Brentford, Ayew started on the bench and was introduced as a substitute for the final 20 minutes of the match, replacing Daichi Kamada.
