AliousTottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace would be extremely costly at this point in the transfer window, according to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth.
Eze has been a target for several clubs this summer, including Tottenham and Manchester City. However, the recent expiration of his £60 million release clause has complicated matters, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Crystal Palace is reluctant to part with another key player after losing Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen.
Sheth told Last Word on Spurs that Palace now has more control over any potential transfer since the release clause has expired.
He suggested that only an extraordinarily high offer might make Palace consider selling Eze.
It’s believed that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou initially wanted Eze as a versatile option who could compete with Maddison in central midfield, play as a number eight, or feature on the wing.
However, the impressive performances of young Lucas Bergvall may have altered Postecoglou’s transfer plans, as Bergvall has shown he’s ready for regular first-team action.
