Everton’s Right-Back Search Heats Up as Deadline Draws Near” Can The New Prospective Contact Save the Toffees from Relegation”

Everton showed promise under Sean Dyche last season, finishing 15th with 40 points.

They could have placed 11th ahead of Brighton if not for an eight-point deduction due to FFP breaches.

However, this season has started poorly. Everton lost their first two games against Brighton and Tottenham, conceding seven goals without scoring.

They currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table.

These early matches have exposed clear squad issues that need addressing before the transfer deadline to maintain their top-flight status.

One pressing concern is the right-back position. With Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman injured, 39-year-old Ashley Young is currently the only option.

Young’s red card against Brighton left him suspended for the Tottenham match.

19-year-old Roman Quintyne started against Tottenham but seems unprepared for the role.

Signing a new right-back before the deadline appears crucial for Everton.

While Kieran Trippier was previously mentioned as a target, Spanish outlet ABC de Sevilla reports that Everton have shown interest in Sevilla’s Gonzalo Montiel.

They’ve reportedly held talks to explore signing him.Montiel, who spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, was part of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning team, scoring the decisive penalty in the final against France.

Forest didn’t make his move permanent but remains interested.

The 27-year-old, valued at around £8m by Transfermarkt, has two years left on his Sevilla contract.

It remains to be seen if Everton will pursue his signature before the transfer window closes.
