AliousCrystal Palace may attempt to sign Chelsea player Trevoh Chalobah in a last-minute transfer move.
Both London clubs have been active in the summer transfer window.
Palace has acquired Ismaila Sarr, Daichi Kamada, and Chadi Riad, with Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah expected to join soon.
However, there might be one more addition before the window closes at 11:00 pm on Friday.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Palace could try to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea on deadline day.
Palace, under Oliver Glasner’s management, is aiming for a strong season despite losing their first two games.
A recent injury to new signing Riad during a Carabao Cup match against Norwich City might force Palace to seek another centre-back.
Chalobah, who has no future at Chelsea, could be an option.
Romano mentioned that while rumors of Chalobah joining Stuttgart are false, several English clubs, including Palace, have shown interest.
Romano stated, “There could be movement. Many clubs are looking at defenders on the final day, like Crystal Palace.
They’ve signed Lacroix but have been in touch about Chalobah recently.”
Regarding Riad’s injury, Glasner expressed concern, saying it might involve the knee ligament.
He confirmed Riad would likely miss the upcoming Chelsea game, but a full diagnosis was pending.
Glasner added, “He [Riad] says it doesn’t look so bad. I can hope.”
This potential move for Chalobah demonstrates Palace’s proactive approach in strengthening their squad, especially in light of unexpected setbacks like Riad’s injury.
