AliousFormer Everton chief executive Keith Wyness believes Sean Dyche should not be considered for dismissal despite the team’s poor start to the season.
Wyness asserts that Dyche has been crucial in maintaining the club’s stability.
During last season’s off-field turmoil, including two point deductions and an ongoing takeover saga, Dyche often acted as the club’s unofficial spokesperson.
Despite Everton’s record Premier League winless streak and sporting sanctions, he secured the team’s safety earlier than in the previous two seasons, finishing with five consecutive home wins.
Speaking on a podcast, Wyness, who was Everton’s CEO from 2004-09 and now advises elite clubs, stated he wouldn’t consider replacing Dyche if he were still involved with the club.
He praised Dyche and Director of Football Kevin Thelwell for their leadership amid ownership uncertainty.
Wyness believes Dyche deserves time from fans to improve results with the new squad.
He sees Dyche as suitable for a relegation battle but doesn’t expect Everton to be in such a situation.
He suggests that without last season’s point deduction, Everton would have finished mid-table, which should be their aim this year.
While acknowledging the need for improved performance, Wyness expresses confidence in Everton’s ability to overcome their slow start.
