CAN SPEAKMAN DELIVER?–THE JANUARY SIGNING SUNDERLAND FANS ARE BEGGING FOR! #EFL

Jordan Henderson, the experienced midfielder currently playing for Ajax in the Netherlands, may be considering a move away from the Dutch giants in the near future. According to a recent report from The Sun, Henderson is reportedly unhappy with his limited playing time at Ajax and could be looking to orchestrate an exit in the coming months.

This situation has led to speculation about potential loan deals with various Premier League and Championship clubs. Intriguingly, the report suggests that a return to Sunderland, Henderson’s former club, “could be on the cards.” This possibility has sparked considerable interest and debate among football fans, particularly those supporting Sunderland.

Henderson’s career trajectory since leaving Sunderland in 2011 has been remarkable. He joined Liverpool and went on to become one of the most prominent figures in English football. During his time with Liverpool, Henderson achieved significant success, winning both the Premier League and Champions League titles. Additionally, he has represented England on the international stage, earning an impressive 81 caps for his country.

Last summer, Henderson made headlines with a controversial move to Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League. However, his stint in the Middle East was short-lived, lasting only six months before he returned to European football, signing with Ajax in January.

With Henderson’s future at Ajax now uncertain, there’s growing speculation about his next move. In light of these rumors, The Echo conducted a poll among Sunderland fans, asking: “With rumours circulating that Jordan Henderson could leave Ajax and return to England in January, would you like to see him back at Sunderland?” The poll offered two options: “Yes, bring him home!” and “No, the Black Cats don’t need him…”

The results of this poll revealed a clear preference among Sunderland supporters. A significant majority, 63% of the voters, expressed their desire to see Henderson return to the Stadium of Light. In contrast, 37% of the respondents felt that the Black Cats do not need their former player at this time.

This sentiment was echoed by former Sunderland striker Darren Bent, who shared his thoughts on talkSPORT. Bent believes that a return to Sunderland would make sense for Henderson, stating, “That’s his club. That’s where he started. That’s where I played with him. The fans would love him as well, and he’s had an unbelievable career.” Bent also highlighted Henderson’s impressive achievements, noting his success with both Liverpool and the England national team.

The possibility of Henderson’s return to Sunderland has clearly captured the imagination of many fans. It represents not just a potential transfer, but a homecoming for a player who has achieved significant success since leaving the club. The overwhelming support from fans in the poll suggests that many Sunderland supporters would welcome the opportunity to see Henderson in a red and white shirt once again, potentially bringing his experience and leadership back to the club where his professional career began.
