QPR have shown signs of a slight recovery recently, but they face a major challenge as they host Championship leaders Sunderland this weekend.
The R’s earned a positive result last weekend, drawing 0-0 away at high-flying Burnley. They also secured a 1-1 draw against Coventry in the match prior. However, QPR still sit bottom of the form table, having collected just 2 points from the last 18 available.
In stark contrast, Sunderland are riding high at the top of the table. They have picked up 13 points over the same period, the most in the division. The Black Cats are five points clear at the summit and will be hunting a fourth consecutive league victory.
Sunderland’s recent success has been driven by impressive performances from young talents like Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude, and forward Wilson Isidor, who both scored in their last 2-0 win over Oxford United.
While QPR were able to secure their first clean sheet of the season against Burnley, they face a huge test against the league leaders. Burnley had 22 shots to QPR’s 2, but the R’s were able to withstand the pressure. Manager Marti Cifuentes praised his players’ courage and determination in that match.
QPR currently sit 23rd in the table, three points adrift of safety, so they desperately need a positive result against the Championship pacesetters. Their confidence levels will be severely tested by the visit of Sunderland this weekend.
