Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has set two new Premier League records with his impressive goal-scoring form to start the season.
Wood was the league’s top scorer in October, finding the back of the net four times in just three Premier League appearances.
His goals against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and Leicester helped push Nottingham Forest to third in the league table.
Wood’s outstanding performances in October have now earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award.
This makes Wood the first Nottingham Forest player to win the award, as well as the first New Zealander to be recognized as the league’s top player for a given month.
Wood’s goal-scoring exploits have thrust him into contention for the Premier League Golden Boot.
His tally of 8 goals in 10 games puts him second only to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who has 11 goals so far.
Wood’s goal rate of 0.89 goals per game is a dramatic improvement from last season, when he scored just 14 goals in 31 Premier League appearances for Nottingham Forest.
He has become an integral part of the squad under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who was also named Premier League Manager of the Month for October.
While pleased with his individual accolades, Wood was quick to praise his teammates, noting that their work has provided him with the chances to score.
However, the striker will face a tough challenge to continue his prolific form, with upcoming matches against Newcastle and a trip to face Arsenal on the horizon.
