Premier League Giants Circle Championship Sensation Jobe Bellingham
Rising star Jobe Bellingham could follow in his brother’s footsteps to the top flight, as multiple Premier League clubs prepare January bids for Sunderland’s midfield dynamo. The 19-year-old, whose brother Jude recently made an £88.5 million move to Real Madrid, has been instrumental in Sunderland’s impressive Championship campaign.
Under Régis Le Bris, the Black Cats have surged to the top of the Championship table, amassing 31 points from 15 matches. Bellingham has been central to this success, contributing two goals and an assist in his 13 appearances this season, earning him a call-up to Lee Carsley’s England squad.
Interest in the young midfielder has intensified, with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Crystal Palace all monitoring his progress. Notably, Borussia Dortmund – the club that transformed Jude into a global star – has also expressed interest. West Ham reportedly values Bellingham at £21 million, though Sunderland is likely to demand significantly more.
Despite signing a long-term contract until 2028, Bellingham’s future at the Stadium of Light remains uncertain. The Black Cats successfully rebuffed multiple bids from West Ham and Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window, but the January window presents fresh challenges.
Since his £1.5 million move from Birmingham City in July 2023, Bellingham has exceeded expectations, recording nine goals and two assists across 60 appearances. While last season’s 16th-place finish under Tony Mowbray and Michael Beale disappointed, this campaign has seen both club and player flourish.
Sunderland’s promotion ambitions could prove crucial in determining Bellingham’s immediate future. The club appears determined to retain their prized asset as they pursue Premier League status, setting the stage for a compelling January transfer saga.
