The Brazilian defender was initially set to start in Forest’s backline at Goodison Park, but a late setback during the warm-up forced head coach Nuno Espirito Santo to make an unplanned change. Murillo suffered a painful adductor issue, prompting Nuno to abandon his intended three-man defensive setup. Instead, Forest shifted to a four-man backline, with winger Ramon Sosa stepping in at the last minute.
Despite the disruption, Forest showed no signs of faltering, extending their winning streak to five Premier League games with a commanding 2-0 victory over the Toffees. Goals from Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the win, propelling Forest to second in the league standings.
After the match, Nuno reflected on the unexpected reshuffle:
“We had prepared to start with Murillo, but during the warm-up, he felt significant stiffness and pain in his adductor. It was clear he couldn’t play. We had to quickly adjust our shape, but the players executed the plan well, maintaining aggression and ensuring Everton couldn’t find their rhythm.
