“Newcastle and Liverpool Lock Horns Over PALACE’S Star as Transfer Battle Heats Up!” And Glasner Breaks Silence and Decide on the Future of the Player

With the January transfer window in full swing, Newcastle United continue to be linked with a variety of potential signings despite their Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints. Speculation surrounding their interest in top players is expected to persist until the window slams shut.

One name that refuses to go away is Crystal Palace’s highly-rated defender, Marc Guehi. After a failed attempt to secure the England international last summer, Newcastle have been tipped to reignite their pursuit. However, Liverpool’s interest in Guehi complicates matters, creating fierce competition for his signature.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, addressing the ongoing rumors, revealed that he does not anticipate Guehi leaving Selhurst Park this month. Speaking on Friday, Glasner clarified:

“I think Marc will stay. None of the players have come to me requesting to leave—neither those playing regularly nor those with limited minutes. If a player approaches me and an agreement is reached with another club, it could happen, but that hasn’t been the case with Marc.

“January 31 is still far away, so I expect this question to come up again, but my answer won’t change.”

### Newcastle United’s January Dilemma
While Newcastle’s pursuit of Guehi is logical given their previous interest, insiders recognize the difficulties of pulling off a January deal. With Palace struggling in the league, any move for Guehi would likely require a significant offer to convince the Eagles to sell mid-season.

The Athletic reported last month that Newcastle’s interest remains alive but acknowledged that a summer move might be more feasible. By then, Guehi will be entering the final year of his contract, which could force Palace’s hand.

However, the Magpies will face stiff competition. Liverpool, in need of defensive reinforcements, are equally keen on the former Chelsea starlet. Any bidding war in the summer could drive up Guehi’s value, potentially complicating Newcastle’s plans.

For now, while Guehi seems set to stay put until the end of the season, his long-term future appears destined for a dramatic shakeup, with two Premier League giants firmly in the hunt.
