“Crystal Palace Plot Stunning Record-Breaking January Deal to Back Glasner”

Crystal Palace are actively negotiating to secure El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague, with discussions centered around a potential £15 million transfer, according to The Telegraph’s reporting.

The move comes as part of Palace’s January recruitment strategy, with strengthening their wing-back options being a key priority.

The Eagles’ 2024/25 campaign under Oliver Glasner has been marked by inconsistency, leaving them positioned 15th in the Premier League standings and maintaining a six-point buffer above the relegation places.

This represents a significant downturn from their impressive form at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

Reports indicate that Palace’s pursuit of Diouf has progressed to advanced negotiations, following earlier suggestions of a £12.5 million bid, as reported by Santi Aouna.

However, competition for the Senegalese international’s signature is fierce, with scouts from nearly half of Premier League clubs monitoring his progress.

This widespread interest has prompted Slavia Prague to aim for a club-record transfer fee, targeting to exceed the £15 million they received from West Ham for Tomas Soucek.

Diouf, who joined Slavia Prague a year ago, has accumulated 37 appearances for the Czech club and earned his first Senegal cap in September 2024.

His versatility in covering both left midfield and defensive positions makes him an attractive option for Palace, who currently rely solely on Tyrick Mitchell as their natural left-sided defender.

Despite Mitchell’s durability this season, Palace views additional depth in this position as essential for their squad development.
