Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Jobe Bellingham has received a significant boost following Borussia Dortmund’s withdrawal from the transfer race.

The talented Sunderland midfielder, who has been instrumental in his team’s Championship promotion campaign, could be available for approximately £17-20 million.

Bellingham has emerged as a standout performer for fourth-placed Sunderland, who are just three points off the top spot.

The 19-year-old’s impressive statistics highlight his impact: he ranks among the squad’s top three in multiple categories, including goals (4), assists (3), and key passes (1.4 per game). He’s also earned three Man of the Match awards this season.

According to Christian Falk’s Daily Briefing, Dortmund – who previously signed Jobe’s brother Jude before his move to Real Madrid – have cooled their interest due to Sunderland’s asking price exceeding €20 million.

Despite earlier discussions between Dortmund executives Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl with the Bellingham family, the German club considers the valuation too steep.

This development has opened the door for Palace, who have a proven track record of developing Championship talent into Premier League stars, as demonstrated by successful acquisitions like Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Adam Wharton.

The Eagles are reportedly willing to meet Sunderland’s valuation, potentially making Jobe the first Bellingham to play in the Premier League, as his brother Jude moved directly from Birmingham City to Dortmund before joining Real Madrid.

The South London club appears ready to continue their successful recruitment strategy of identifying and developing young Championship talent, with Bellingham potentially becoming their latest prospect from England’s second tier.
