While teams like Sheffield United and Sunderland are bolstering their squads with new signings, Leeds seem content to stay out of the market for now, even as outgoings leave gaps in their roster.
Sheffield United, struggling with a slew of injuries, are reportedly closing in on deals for Ben Brereton Diaz and Hamza Choudhury to strengthen their squad.
Burnley have also been active, securing Oliver Sonne and bringing back fan favorite Ashley Barnes on a six-month deal from Norwich.
Meanwhile, Sunderland made headlines with the signing of Enzo Le Fee, raising concerns among Leeds fans about their rivals’ growing strength.
For Leeds, however, the focus seems to remain on managing departures. Joe Gelhardt is set to join Hull City on loan, while midfielder Charlie Crew is expected to follow suit.
Additionally, Patrick Bamford has attracted interest from Blackburn Rovers, where manager John Eustace is reportedly keen to bring in the former England international.
Despite these exits, Leeds have yet to confirm any plans to bring in reinforcements, though Farke has hinted that the club is monitoring the market for potential striker options.
One name on the radar for promotion rivals Sheffield United and Sunderland is Leicester City’s Tom Cannon, as reported by Alan Nixon.
Cannon is currently on loan at Stoke City, but a break clause in his deal could allow him to move before the transfer window closes.
Cannon’s impressive form this season, which includes 11 goals—one more than Leeds striker Joel Piroe—has caught the attention of several Championship sides.
Notably, Cannon scored four goals in a single game during a 6-1 victory over Portsmouth, showcasing his potential as a prolific scorer.
Interestingly, Leeds had considered signing Cannon before opting for Joel Piroe in a £16 million deal during Farke’s first summer in charge.
While Piroe has delivered a solid return with 15 combined goals and assists this season, Cannon’s performances have sparked renewed interest from promotion hopefuls Sheffield United and Sunderland.
If Cannon does make a move to one of Leeds’ rivals, it could further complicate the Whites’ promotion campaign while highlighting the lack of activity in their January transfer dealings.
