REVEALED: Sunderland’s NIGHTMARE Transfer Window Gets WORSE as Rivals Plot SHOCK Double Swoop for Goal Machine Duo!

Sheffield United are reportedly closing in on deals for Ben Brereton Diaz and Tom Cannon, two forwards previously on Sunderland’s radar as they sought to strengthen their attacking options during the transfer window.

According to *The Sheffield Star*, Brereton Diaz is expected to be present at Bramall Lane this afternoon as the Blades face Norwich City. Sunderland had expressed interest in the versatile Southampton attacker, whose Championship experience made him an attractive target. However, the 25-year-old has reportedly been eager to return to Sheffield United, where he enjoyed a highly successful loan spell under Chris Wilder last season.

The Blades are also optimistic about securing a transfer for Leicester City striker Tom Cannon, who was recently recalled from his productive loan stint at Stoke City. Sunderland had rekindled their summer interest in the 21-year-old, who is highly regarded by Régis Le Bris and has already scored twice against the Black Cats this season.

Sheffield United appear to have the upper hand in negotiations for Cannon, having indicated their willingness to pay an upfront fee of approximately £10 million. Sunderland, by contrast, were hoping to structure a deal similar to the one that brought Enzo Le Fée to Wearside, with a permanent transfer triggered only if the club secured Premier League promotion.

With Sheffield United seemingly on the verge of finalizing both transfers, Sunderland may need to shift their focus elsewhere for reinforcements. Westerlo’s Matija Frigan has emerged as a potential alternative, with the 21-year-old forward heavily linked to the Black Cats in recent days.
