Le Bris revealed that the decision to let Isidor take a second penalty, despite his earlier miss, was made collectively by the players.
He supported their choice, even if the outcome wasn’t ideal. “At the end, it’s easier to say it wasn’t the best decision,” he explained.
“But they made that decision together, and I respect that. The shot wasn’t the best choice, but we want to build a team that takes responsibility on the pitch.
You can succeed or fail, but they committed to working together and learning from mistakes.”
As for whether Isidor will continue as Sunderland’s designated penalty taker, Le Bris remained noncommittal, noting that Isidor has been practicing penalties in training.
“We will see if he remains the penalty taker,” Le Bris said. “Wilson was probably used to shooting like that, but now he has to be open to different approaches from the spot. It will be a useful experience.”
