Chris Wood has provided Nottingham Forest with another major boost by committing his future to the club with a new contract. The New Zealand international has agreed to a 2½-year deal, keeping him at the City Ground until beyond his 35th birthday.

Wood has been a standout performer in what has been an exceptional season for Forest, netting 14 Premier League goals to help propel the team to third place in the table. His impressive form also saw him earn the honor of being Forest’s first-ever Premier League Player of the Month in November.

Discussions over a new contract began in late October, as reported by *Telegraph Sport*, with Wood’s previous deal set to expire at the end of this season. Now officially signed, the extension marks another key commitment to Forest’s long-term plans, following the recent contract renewal of Brazilian center-back Murillo.

Negotiations are also underway with defender Ola Aina, while Forest is expected to open talks later this year with other key players, including Morgan Gibbs-White, as the club looks to secure its core squad.

Wood initially joined Forest from Newcastle United on loan in January 2023 before making his move permanent in the summer for £15 million. Reflecting on the team’s success this season, Wood said, *“We’re not thinking about where we are in the table. We’re taking it game by game and will see where we end up in May. Let the fans dream and enjoy it. For us as players, it’s about maintaining the same mindset we’ve had since the opening game against Bournemouth.”*

Despite Wood’s remarkable contributions, Forest is still looking to strengthen their attacking options. The club recently had an £18 million bid for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa turned down but remains intent on signing the DR Congo international, with plans to submit an improved offer.

Meanwhile, the club is expected to part ways with Republic of Ireland defender Andrew Omobamidele. Talks are ongoing with French side Strasbourg regarding a potential move for the player before the transfer window closes.
