While Omobamidele impressed on his Strasbourg debut, Josh Bowler has endured a disastrous spell at Preston North End. The 24-year-old winger, who moved on loan in the summer, has struggled to make an impact.
According to the *Lancashire Post*, Bowler is on the verge of ending his time at Deepdale and securing a move to another Championship club. His stint at Preston has been largely forgettable, making just 13 appearances and accumulating only 660 minutes on the pitch.
Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom didn’t shy away from acknowledging Bowler’s struggles, admitting the winger had “fallen victim” to a tactical shift that didn’t suit his style. Preston had reportedly been looking to terminate his loan even before the January window opened, so his impending exit comes as no surprise.
Bowler’s Struggles Cast Doubt on His Future at Forest
Bowler’s journey at Forest has been anything but smooth. Signed from Blackpool in the chaotic summer of 2022, he was immediately loaned out to Olympiacos, where he failed to register a single goal before returning to Blackpool in January. His time there was equally underwhelming.
A loan stint at Cardiff City showed brief promise, with Bowler scoring five goals and receiving positive reviews from local media. However, his poor form at Preston has only reinforced doubts about his long-term future at Forest.
With another loan move imminent, Bowler still has a chance to revive his career elsewhere, but a return to Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad at the City Ground seems highly unlikely.
