AliousBrighton & Hove Albion midfielder Julio Enciso has clarified that he was never close to joining Borussia Dortmund in January and was fully committed to remaining in the Premier League.
In an interview with *Versus*, Enciso discussed his recent loan move to Ipswich Town, where he will spend the remainder of the season. The Paraguayan joined the struggling Premier League side in search of more playing time after slipping down the pecking order at Brighton.
Reports late in the January transfer window suggested that Borussia Dortmund and even Manchester United had shown interest in signing him. However, Enciso firmly denied these claims, stating that no offer from the German club ever materialized.
When asked directly about Dortmund’s reported interest, he responded: *“No, no.”*
He further emphasized his desire to stay in England: *“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League, and I’m grateful to my family, Pedro (my agent), and everyone who helped me make this decision. It wasn’t easy, but I’m really happy to continue here with the best team.”*
### **Settling in at Ipswich Despite Language Barrier**
Since arriving at Ipswich, Enciso has struggled to make a major impact, featuring in just 117 minutes across three games against Liverpool, Southampton, and Aston Villa. His progress has also been hindered by a knee injury, which has kept him out of the last two matches. Fortunately, the injury is not expected to be a long-term issue.
Despite his limited playing time, Enciso remains upbeat about his decision to join Ipswich, even though he has faced some challenges adapting to his new environment. One notable difficulty is the lack of Spanish-speaking teammates, but he sees it as an opportunity for personal growth.
*“Honestly, things are going really well. My teammates have welcomed me warmly, and the coach spoke with me even before I arrived,”* he said. *“The tough part is that there’s no one who speaks Spanish, but it’s fine—it helps me improve my English, and I can even joke around a bit.”*
Enciso is focused on integrating into the squad and making an impact on the pitch, adding: *“It’s important for me to build strong relationships and fit into the group quickly. They’ve made it easy for me, and I’m really happy here.”*
