Wolves manager Vitor Pereira was unable to secure one of his key transfer targets in the January window but may look to pursue him again in the summer.
Despite a productive winter transfer period—where Wolves signed center-backs Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Agbadou, along with midfielder Marshall Munetsi—Pereira had his sights set on adding a striker to his squad. It later emerged that the club attempted to sign an in-form forward but fell short in their efforts.
Wolves’ Previous Interest in Yuri Alberto Confirmed
One player heavily linked with Wolves during the January 2024 window was Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto. The Brazilian forward has been on the club’s radar for some time, and his agent, Andre Cury, recently confirmed that Wolves were among the teams that made offers for the player.
*”We’ve had offers from Wolverhampton, West Ham, Betis, Spain, and also from Italy, but nothing materialized,”* Cury revealed in an interview with *Globo Esporte*.
Although Alberto remained with Corinthians, his representative did not rule out a move in the future.
*”He’s young, and like most South American players, he dreams of playing in Europe. If the right opportunity comes along that benefits both him and Corinthians, we’ll have discussions,”* Cury added.
Wolves are well aware of the financial demands involved, as Corinthians are reportedly seeking around £50 million for the striker. However, due to a partial ownership agreement with former club Zenit, negotiations could be more complex.
Pereira’s Admiration for Alberto Could Lead to Summer Move
As Pereira continues his search for a reliable goalscorer, Alberto remains a player of interest. With uncertainty surrounding Matheus Cunha’s future at Wolves, the club is expected to be active in the transfer market to reinforce its attacking options.
