Newcastle United Targeting Trincão as Potential Jacob Murphy Upgrade

With PIF keen to accelerate **Newcastle United’s rise, the club is reportedly pursuing an attacking reinforcement who has outperformed Anthony Gordon in assists this season.

Magpies Focus on Attacking Reinforcements

Fresh off their Wembley triumph, Newcastle is eager to sustain momentum in their Champions League qualification push. The club is eyeing key summer signings, with names like Semih Kilicsoy and Tammy Abraham already linked to potential moves. However, if the club is freed from PSR restrictions, these signings could be just the beginning.

One particularly intriguing name on the list is Abraham, who previously shone at Chelsea before moving to AS Roma. While his time in Serie A started brightly, injuries have hampered his progress. Now, a return to English football—with Newcastle as a possible destination—seems increasingly likely.

However, Abraham isn’t the only forward on Newcastle’s radar. According to The i Paper, the club is plotting a summer move for Francisco Trincão, with the Sporting CP winger identified as a key piece in completing Eddie Howe’s frontline.

Trincão Poised for Premier League Return

Trincão previously struggled to make an impact at Wolverhampton Wanderers during his loan spell in 2021, but he has since revitalized his career in Portugal, emerging as a standout performer for Sporting CP.

Given his impressive form, he could offer Newcastle a significant upgrade over Jacob Murphy, despite Murphy’s solid performances this season.

While Murphy has been reliable, the club is looking for elite attacking quality to match the firepower of Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

If Trincão joins, he could provide an additional spark to Newcastle’s attack.

“Terrific” Trincão Could Elevate Newcastle’s Attack

If Newcastle is serious about becoming a Champions League regular, signing a player of Trincão’s caliber would be a major step forward.

U23 scout Antonio Mango has previously described the 25-year-old winger as “terrific,” and his numbers back up that reputation.

This season, Trincão has registered 15 assists and nine goals across all competitions, outperforming Gordon in terms of goal contributions.

With his creativity and technical ability, he could thrive alongside Isak, potentially elevating the Swedish striker’s numbers even further.

A front three of Gordon, Isak, and Trincão has all the makings of a Champions League-caliber attack.

However, whether Newcastle can secure the Sporting CP star depends on PIF’s willingness to make another major investment in the summer window.
