Despite the uncertainty surrounding their top-flight status, Wolves appear to be making preliminary transfer plans. According to CalcioMercato, the Midlands outfit have identified Roma striker Tammy Abraham as a potential summer target, though they face competition from both Everton and West Ham United for his signature.
The 27-year-old English forward, currently on loan at AC Milan, joined Roma for £34 million after progressing through Chelsea’s academy system and enjoying productive loan spells at Bristol City, Swansea City, and Aston Villa. With his long-term future in Italy appearing uncertain, Wolves may look to bring him back to the Premier League when he returns to his parent club at season’s end.
Following the Everton match, Pereira expressed pride in his team’s performance: “I’m very proud of my players, and we played a very consistent game against a difficult team. We tried everything to win the game and in the second half, we had a period with playing in the offensive midfield, creating situations and stopping the counter attacks, but for me, with this spirit I’m very confident.”
Looking ahead to the crucial Southampton fixture, the Portuguese manager is maintaining a measured approach: “It is important, it’s very important, but that’s because it’s the next game. When we start to speak about finals, I think if you start to carry it on your back, this responsibility is a problem.”
He added: “In my experience, I prefer to think game by game. We got one point today and we’ve got three points before against big teams. But we could lose against a team on the bottom or we could win if we play against a team on the top, because that is what happens in this league. This is why this league is the best one in the world.”
