Wilson Isidor has delivered a passionate message to Sunderland fans, urging belief in the team’s journey and potential as the Championship play-offs approach—despite his personal struggles in front of goal.
The French striker has gone nine games without scoring since his last goal in the 2-1 loss to Leeds United back in mid-February. His dry spell has coincided with the absence of creative midfielder Enzo Le Fée due to injury, which has limited service to the forward line. Nonetheless, Isidor remains optimistic and determined to contribute as the Black Cats prepare for the season’s decisive stage.
Speaking to *safc.com*, Isidor acknowledged the challenges but highlighted the bigger picture: “We’ve exceeded expectations this season, and it’s important to remember how brilliant the journey has been. There’s still a lot to fight for.”
Reflecting on the narrow 1-0 loss to Swansea City, he remained focused on the positives. Isidor had a first-half goal chalked off for offside in what he described as a game of “fine margins.” Despite the result, he praised the team’s aggressive opening and persistent effort.
“We came out full of intent and energy. That early goal could’ve changed things, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Margins are tight at this level. Still, we kept going and kept trying to create right until the end.”
With back-to-back Easter fixtures against Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers looming, Isidor views them as a vital reset point for building momentum heading into the play-offs.
“This group always finds a way to bounce back. We know what we’re capable of, and these next games are a big opportunity to recapture our rhythm and finish strong. The hunger is there in every one of us.”
