JUST NOW: Nottingham Forest eye shock swoop for superstar striker hailed by Ancelotti as ‘complete’—free agent could spark Premier League shake-up in stunning twist

Nottingham Forest Fixing Their Gaze on a New Premier League Forward

With the transfer window looming, Nottingham Forest are determined to bolster their attacking options. Despite Chris Wood’s impressive performances this season, his 33 years of age have pushed the club to search for a forward who can deliver long-term value.

Forest have eyed several potential targets. While Matheus Cunha has surfaced as a possibility, his desire to join Manchester United appears to be a stumbling block. Other names, such as Jean-Philippe Mateta and Darwin Nunez, have been linked with the club. However, Nunez’s estimated fee of around £38m might compel Forest to explore more affordable alternatives.

In this search, Forest seem to have already zeroed in on a budget-friendly option: the free-agent striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Originally linked with the club back in December, the 28-year-old Everton man has maintained interest from various Premier League sides, especially with his contract expiring this summer. Among the clubs interested are Newcastle United, West Ham, and Wolves, but Nottingham Forest remain in the mix, albeit with some caution due to Calvert-Lewin’s intermittent injury issues.

The Everton forward is known for his physical presence, aerial prowess, and ability to score goals—qualities that have even earned him praise from top managers like Carlo Ancelotti. In October 2020, Ancelotti described him as a “complete striker,” highlighting his speed, energy, and goal-scoring ability, while also stressing the importance of maintaining consistency to keep reaping rewards like his call-up to the England squad.

Forest’s challenge now will be to balance the risks and rewards: while injuries are a concern, the potential upside of adding a proven goal-scorer to their ranks could make all the difference in their pursuit of success this season.
