Nottingham Forest have formally undergone a significant ownership reshuffle, with Evangelos Marinakis stepping back from his controlling position at the club, sources have told *Football Insider*.

According to official filings with Companies House on 30 April, Marinakis is no longer listed as a person with significant control over NF Football Investments Limited—the parent company of Nottingham Forest. In his place, newly incorporated Pittville One Limited has now been registered as the new controlling entity.

Insiders suggest this strategic change is tied to Forest’s growing prospects of qualifying for European competition next season. With Nuno Espirito Santo’s men currently battling for a top-six finish in the Premier League and Olympiacos—also owned by Marinakis—leading the Greek Super League, both clubs could end up in the Champions League. UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules prohibit two teams under the same ownership from participating in the same competition, prompting this timely restructuring.

While Marinakis has stepped aside from an official control position, he is expected to retain an influential presence at the City Ground behind the scenes.

Further developments in Forest’s hierarchy followed the ownership switch. Sokratis Kominakis, a co-investor with Marinakis during the 2017 takeover, has been reinstated as a director after a brief departure in February. New appointments to the board include Matthew Shayle, Matthew Cain, and Timothy Osborne, while Michael Dugher, Simon Forster, and Jonathan Owen have stepped down.

The current board now comprises Kominakis, Shayle, Cain, Osborne, and chairman Nicholas Randall KC.

On the pitch, Forest are preparing for a summer recruitment drive as part of their European ambitions. One major target is Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, who is reportedly open to leaving the Etihad for more regular first-team football. McAtee, who has netted seven times in 25 appearances this term, has drawn interest from several Premier League clubs, but Forest are leading the chase. His current deal runs until 2026, though City are eager to extend it to safeguard his transfer value.
