Premier League Rivals in Hot Pursuit as Wolves and Brighton Battle Over £4.2m African Wonderkid Abdoulie Manneh

Rising Gambian sensation Abdoulie Manneh has ignited a transfer frenzy among Premier League clubs after a blistering start to life in European football.

The 20-year-old striker, currently lighting up the Swedish Allsvenskan with Mjällby, has bagged seven goals in just 12 appearances since arriving in 2024, putting clubs like Wolves, Brighton, and Bournemouth on high alert.

Manneh, whose versatility allows him to play as a centre-forward, attacking midfielder, or winger, has attracted widespread interest thanks to his dynamic performances—including a recent hat-trick in a 4-1 rout over Degerfors.

Valued around £4.25 million, his price could yet drop depending on negotiations, with Championship sides Burnley and Portsmouth also tracking the Gambia international.

The youngster’s potential move is further boosted by his links to the same agent who manages Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh.

The Seagulls, with a strong record of discovering talent in Scandinavia—including Viktor Gyökeres and Yasin Ayari—see Manneh as another potential gem.

European clubs like Olympiakos and MLS franchise FC Cincinnati are also monitoring the situation.

Mjällby’s sporting director Hasse Larsson has confirmed growing interest but says no formal bids have been made.

While ideally hoping to retain Manneh to further boost his value, Larsson acknowledges the club’s place in football’s hierarchy, stating that an irresistible offer could trigger a sale.

Given his international pedigree—two caps for Gambia—and immediate impact in Sweden, Manneh is shaping up as one of Africa’s most exciting young exports, and a summer move to a top-five European league looks increasingly likely.
