Rangers are reportedly in discussions with Danish coach Brian Priske as the club narrows down its search for a new permanent manager following Philippe Clement’s departure.
Priske, 48, was appointed as Feyenoord boss last summer, stepping into the role after Arne Slot left for Liverpool.
However, his tenure in the Netherlands was short-lived, as he was dismissed in February after a disappointing string of results.
Now, the former Sparta Prague and Royal Antwerp manager is being seriously considered for the Ibrox hot seat.
According to *BBC Sport* (24 May), Priske has already engaged in talks with Rangers, emerging as a strong candidate amid ongoing efforts to appoint a full-time successor to Clement.
The club has been without a permanent manager for over three months, with Barry Ferguson serving as interim head coach through the end of the season. However, it’s now confirmed that Ferguson won’t be retained in that role.
This managerial update comes shortly after Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart offered reassurance to fans, stating that the club’s recruitment process is “progressing well” and that an appointment is expected soon.
While Davide Ancelotti has been widely linked to the job due to his work alongside his father Carlo at Real Madrid, and Steven Gerrard’s name continues to pop up due to his prior success with the club, neither of those potential appointments appear to have reached an advanced stage.
Unlike those speculative names, Priske—who also has managerial experience with Midtjylland—appears to be actively in the frame, holding talks with the Ibrox hierarchy.
His track record of leading clubs in top European competitions and adapting to different footballing cultures could align with the vision of Rangers’ incoming ownership, who are seeking a progressive, results-driven coach to usher in a new era at Ibrox.
