Tottenham Midfielder’s Future in Doubt as Everton and Leeds Circle Amid Contract Uncertainty
One of Tottenham’s seasoned midfielders, who played a key role during the club’s successful Europa League campaign, now finds his future hanging in the balance amid rising interest from fellow Premier League clubs.
While much focus has been on potential new arrivals at Tottenham this summer, significant departures could also be on the horizon, especially if the club opts to part ways with manager Ange Postecoglou and shift their strategic direction. Among those facing an uncertain future is Yves Bissouma, whose current contract with Tottenham runs out in just a year.
A few months ago, many assumed Tottenham would sell Bissouma without hesitation, but the Mali international’s strong finish to the season—including a vital starting role in the Europa League final victory against Manchester United—has complicated those assumptions. His resurgence earned praise from Postecoglou, yet there is still no indication that a contract extension is forthcoming.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested that Bissouma could be on the move this summer, with Leeds United reportedly showing interest. Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs noted, “He wants to stay in the Premier League. Leeds are definitely one to watch—they want to add another midfielder, but it will come down to financial terms and wages.”
In another interview on The Last Word Spurs podcast, Jacobs revealed Everton is also closely monitoring the situation. He explained, “Bissouma is aware of the attention he’s getting. Everton could enter the race as they plan to replace outgoing midfielders and strengthen their squad.”
Bissouma’s availability has attracted attention beyond England as well, with rumors suggesting interest from clubs in Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. Aston Villa has also been linked with a potential move.
If Tottenham decide to cash in on Bissouma, they will hope for a competitive bidding process to maximize his transfer fee. However, given his contract status, the midfielder himself will likely have significant influence over where he ends up next.
