Brighton & Hove Albion have moved swiftly to secure the future of one of their most promising young talents, Charlie Tasker, by offering him a new contract following a standout season in the club’s development system.
The 19-year-old defender, who has been part of Brighton’s academy since he was just eight, continued his rapid rise through the club’s youth ranks by transitioning from the under-18s to becoming a key presence in the under-21 setup last season. Tasker made 15 appearances in Premier League 2 and even trained with the senior squad under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, who has praised the youngster’s potential to thrive at the top level.
“Charlie embodies everything we value at this club,” Hurzeler remarked. “He has the physical tools and, just as importantly, the mentality to succeed in the Premier League.”
Under-21s head coach Shannon Ruth echoed the praise, applauding Tasker’s growth and readiness for the step up. “He’s made fantastic strides and deserved his call-up to the senior squad environment. He’s embraced it, and we’re thrilled he’s committed his future to us.”
Meanwhile, Brighton confirmed the departure of several players from the women’s squad. Goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor and forward Chelsea Ferguson have left the club after their contracts expired. Both had loan spells away from Brighton and were praised for their professionalism and contributions.
